Welcome

COVID-19 Contingencies:

As you are no doubt aware, churches, schools, and other organizations all across the country are having to make contingency plans as requirements and recommendations come down from public health agencies to help stem the spread of the virus. It is only natural that we all approach these changes with some mixed feelings, and no one in the congregation's leadership takes these concerns lightly.

In keeping with medical advice and the State of Texas guidelines,  we will be postponing all group functions, including our Sunday morning service. At this time, they are asking we postpone until April 3rd, if this changes, we will update  accordingly. This was not an easy decision, this congregation and the encouragement we draw from Sundays, Wednesdays, and other activities is invaluable. We will probably all have a much greater appreciation when all this is behind us, as we pray it soon is.

Here are some things we want you to be aware of:

  • We WILL have a service online Sunday morning at 10:00 am on Facebook Live. You can watch via our page (facebook.com/earlychurchofchrist). If you can't join us at 10, we will keep it on the page to be viewed any time. Please feel free to share that link with people who may be interested. Here is a link to our video announcement last night, so you can see how it works and give it a test run: Facebook Live Announcement.

  • We want to encourage you to join us live if at all possible, and to do so as family if possible, and to celebrate the Lord's Supper together with us across the the miles. We have supplies for those who are shut in and unable to shop right now. If you are among those, we can prepare a Lord's Supper gift bag for you and have it delivered to you (we will be very careful about packing these in as sterile a way as we can). Please call if you need one.

  • Many Christians all over the world, especially in persecuted nations, have to worship at home in secret, just as the early Christians in Rome did, all the time. We have members with health issues that cause them to have to miss worship during these seasons. All the time. Please take this opportunity to better understand what they go through, to pray for them. If you haven't seen it yet, I'd like to encourage you to consider how God can use this as an opportunity to grow and serve: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M7HgOQw72Tg

  • We will have an online Bible study on Wednesday night at 7:00 pm, also on our Facebook page. You can interact in the comments, adding your own insight as we go. Again, you can share that with others who might be gain from it as well. These may be opportunities to share the gospel, a good thing coming from an inconvenience.

  • I am keeping normal office hours when possible, because we still have people coming by in need of food, shelter, etc. And because of this, we may need to adapt how we "pass the plate". We know, We don't like talking money either. But ministry isn't stopping, and we are still meeting needs, and don't know what needs may come up as more are temporarily out of work. You can click More->Giving in the menu at the top of the page to give online.

  • We pray these changes are short-lived! It speaks to the love you have for one another that these adaptions come hard. Let's do our part and get this over with, and with grace, encouragement, kindness that will shine the light of Jesus in a strange time.

If you have any questions or concerns, please do feel free to call, text, or email me (earlychurchofchrist@gmail.com) I would be glad to hear from you, and glad to help clear up any confusion.

Love you all, and praying for you,
James G.
